E209 2cd Introduction to Smart Buildings using the Building Intelligence Quotient (BiQ 2.0) Program.

Course Outline

Introduction to smart building automation fundamentals – including types of smart systems, data acquisition and integration opportunities using the BiQ 2.0.

Overview of the design and implementation process for Smart Buildings using programs like the BiQ 2.0 and Model IB.

Emerging Applications – including Human Machine Interface, Remote Access, Fault detection, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

Emerging Energy Conservation and Indoor Environmental Strategies considering changes to Hybrid and remote work options and Net Zero objectives.

Reference codes and standards and other rating systems applicable to smart buildings.

Presentation by those that applied the BiQ 2.0 after the initial course and are able and willing to share the results for their building.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, attendants will have obtained the following:

1. An understanding of the smart building features that go beyond the traditional building automation systems.
2. A thorough knowledge of the various emerging technologies for smart buildings and the cost and benefit analysis methods.
3. A thorough knowledge of the way to use the free Building Intelligence Quotient program provided to learn more about the best available technologies on the market for each feature.
4. The ability to apply the BiQ 2.0 to a building that would benefit from this movement to a smarter building for that type of building and within the budget for improvements. Attendees are requested to seek owners’ permission for any building they plan to use for this course.
5. The ability to contact the instructor for guidance during the process of doing the BiQ 2.0 assessment till the next RWI smart building course where they can present their BiQ 2.0 report and discuss the actions that will be taken for that building. The free BiQ 2.0 will remain available for 6 months from date of creation.
